Born in Los Angeles, California, Senator Colleen Nicholl has always had a passion for political change. Once she graduated in the top of her class from Georgetown she continued to study political science in graduate school at Princeton. She then spent some time working a Senatorial aid in Washington and slowly worked her way up the political ladder. She returned to California and is in her 3rd term as a democratic representative.

As a woman and a mother the subject of Violence against women is close to Senator Nicholls heart. She has worked with Senator Leahy and other senators who support the cause as well as the people of California in order to best amend the bill. I take on the trustee approach to my work, I believe that my people elected me their representatives because they respect my views and the choices I make.
